Florence Welch In For Foo Fighters At Glastonbury
After Foo Fighters were forced to withdraw from their headline slot on Friday week (June 26) on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury Festival, Florence + the Machine have moved up to top the bill. Previously scheduled to appear in the penultimate slot, Florence will now close the evening line-up, performing between 10.15 and 11.45pm.
After the Foos’ cancellation, which followed Dave Grohl breaking his leg at a performance in Gothenburg, bookmakers had stated that either Florence or AC/DC were favorites to take their place. “Once we heard the sad news that Foo Fighters had been forced to pull out,” says organizer Emily Eavis, “there was only one person we wanted to call and that was Florence.
“Every time she has played here she’s done something spectacular and we always knew she would headline the Pyramid one day. I’m delighted she’s agreed to step up to it – she’s going to smash it!”.
Full revised times for Friday night on the Pyramid Stage will be announced soon. That day’s bill also currently features Motörhead, Mary J. Blige, Alabama Shakes, James Bay, Chronixx and Michael Clark Company. The Saturday headliner is Kanye West, with The Who closing the festival on the Sunday night, June 28.
