If one album made Neil Diamond a superstar, it was the 1972 double live set Hot August Night. Recorded at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles, it revealed the electrifying showmanship that his studio albums had only suggested. The original album was such a success that he returned to the Greek for three sequels, Love at the Greek and Hot August Night II and III and gave the East Coast its chance with Hot August Night NYC. Each of these albums combined the classic hits with new material and deep-catalog surprises.
