Yes’ 2019 ‘Cruise To The Edge’ Adds Neal Morse, Focus And More
Seven final names are added to the bill for the February 2019 excursion.
The 2019 Cruise To The Edge, visiting Key West, Florida and Cozumel, Mexico and hosted by prog giants Yes, has confirmed its final seven artists. As we reported in March 2018, the Royal Caribbean’s Brilliance Of The Seas, which was voted the No. 1 ship in its fleet in 2018, will set sail for the cruise from 4-9 February next year.
The Neal Morse Band will now join the expansive roster of artists, playing favourite material as well as selections from their upcoming album The Great Adventure. Other notable new names in the line-up include Dutch progressive veterans Focus, who have just announced the January 2019 release of a new album, 11. The band, led as ever by Thijs Van Leer, are currently touring the UK.
The sixth Cruise To The Edge — billed as “the greatest prog rock vacation on Earth” — will now also feature the Adrian Belew Power Trio, fronted by the much-travelled multi-instrumentalist whose credits embrace King Crimson, Frank Zappa and dozens more.
The appropriately-named The Sea Within will also be aboard; the supergroup features Roine Stolt, Jonas Reingold, Tom Brislin, Marco Minnemann and Daniel Gildenlöw, although guitarist Casey McPherson will step in for Gildenlöw on the cruise, as the unfortunate latter musician will miss the trip as he’ll be on the road with Pain of Salvation.
Haken, Brook Hansen and Rachel Flowers are the other new names on the 2019 bill, and all the artists will join the previously-announced line-up, which includes such progressive heavyweights as Steve Hackett, Fish, PFM, Spock’s Beard (of which Neal Morse was a founder member in 1992, before leaving in 2002), Mike Portnoy and of course Yes themselves. More information about the cruise, including ticketing and details about the ship, its destinations, travel requirements and other FAQs, is available at the official Cruise To The Edge website.
