Multi-platinum alt.rock outfit X Ambassadors have announced their new album, ORION, coming 14 June via KIDinaKORNER/Interscope Records, featuring the new track ‘Hey Child’.
The thumping new single follows their equally blistering single ‘Boom’, featuring a dose of Wild West swagger and Sam Harris’ powerhouse vocals.
Along with detailing their new album, the rock trio also announced a series of album release shows in five cities where they will showcase new material from ORION plus fan favorites. Fans who pre-order ORION direct from the band’s store will receive an email with a code for early access to purchase tickets to the band’s five city club tour. While general on sale for the tour is 26 April at 10am local time
ORION marks the band’s first album since their critically-acclaimed major-label debut, 2015’s VHS, which Billboard praised for its “Yeezus-filtered guitars, Southern Gothic howls and hand claps aplenty that sound authentically swampy, belying the quartet’s Ithaca, N.Y., roots”. Continuing where VHS left off, ORION sees more deeply personal songwriting by Sam, mining his relationship with Casey and presented as an “ode to brotherhood”, in the official release.
Formed in 2009, X Ambassadors are comprised of brothers Sam (vocals) and Casey (keyboardist) Harris along with drummer Adam Levin. Since their breakout debut, they’ve evolved from Ithaca alt-rockers to chart-toppers, with five singles on Billboard’s Hot 100, become an alt.rock radio fixture with singles like ‘Don’t Stay’ and ‘Joyful’ and headlined their own tours.
Together with producer Ricky Reed (Maggie Rogers, Maroon 5), the band has been working on putting the finishing touches on ORION while also taking on producing duties themselves. In addition to co-writing and producing three songs on Lizzo’s breakout album, including the title track ‘Cuz I Love You’, lead singer-songwriter Sam Harris has written and produced eight songs for the upcoming For The Throne- Music Inspired By The HBO Series Game Of Thrones soundtrack.
ORION is set for release on 14 June and can be pre-ordered here. View the official tour dates and album release shows below.
