Underworld Reissue ‘Drift Series 1’ Box Set, Launch New Website, Host Reddit AMA

Underworld are reissuing their Drift Series 1 box set, launching a new website and hosting a Reddit AMA Q&A session for fans.

The reissue of Drift Series 1 comes just one year after its original release. However, having sold out immediately and responding to both demand and many people’s changed circumstances, the package has been remodeled for a new compact edition, plus the bonus of a previously unreleased recording of a Rick Smith Drift pre-show set recorded live at Underworld’s show at Ziggodome Amsterdam in November 2019.

Prior to Underworld’s two-hour set, Smith opened with a performance unique to each show deconstructing and reimagining the music from Drift Series 1. The previously unreleased,’RicksDubbedOutDriftExperience’ is an hour plus of remodeled Drift tracks performed live by Smith during the pre-show set at Underworld’s sold out show at the Ziggodome in Amsterdam on November 23, 2019.

The box set comes in an 8 CD Format + 1 Blu-ray + 50 Page Art-Book and is released globally today, except for in the US where it goes on sale on October 2.

Also today, Underworld will reveal their new website alongside their new store. The new store marks the launch of Underworld Apparel: a classic range of tee shirts and sweats drawing on classic Underworld iconography such as Dubnobassinmyheadman and Born Slippy, alongside regular limited edition drops. There will also be classic CDs and vinyl for sale that have been previously unavailable.

Additionally, Underworld’s Rick Smith and Karl Hyde will also be hosting their very first Reddit AMA this Friday September 18 at 9PT/12 noon ET.

During the last four decades, Underworld’s creative legacy is one that includes everything from poems, books, visual art installations, award winning movie scores, Grammy nominated music and a digital diary of words and found art. Their partnership with design collective Tomato (responsible for creating packaging, films, and visuals for the band, on and off tour) has helped reinforce the band’s utterly unique aesthetic.

Described by Q as “mind-bogglingly diverse,” Drift was released as a sampler and a super deluxe, eight-disc box set that sold out on release. Responding to both demand and many people’s changed circumstances, the package has been remodeled for a new compact edition that contains all of the original CDs and accompanying Blu-Ray along with a perfect bound, 50-page book.
