Watch The Video For U2’s New Single ‘Love Is Bigger Than Anything In Its Way’
U2 have released a new video for their new single ‘Love Is Bigger Than Anything In Its Way’ directed by Red Hot Chili Peppers’ photographer David Mushegain.
U2 have released a new music video for Songs of Experience track Love Is Bigger Than Anything in Its Way. Directed by fashion and music photographer David Mushegain, it features the young LGBTQ+ community in Dublin – some of which, Mushegain had previously photographed for a series of street style portraits.
Mushegain, who is also the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ band photographer, helmed the clip and used it as an extension of photographing groups of kids in Dublin, something he’d been doing on his own beginning about seven years ago. “I took [U2’s lyrics] really literally,” he explained to Vogue. “‘Love is bigger than anything in its way’ is such a strong message, especially when the world is in such turmoil. I think the message is be yourself, but also have some fun in life and expressing yourself.”
Elsewhere in U2 news, Beck has remixed the band’s song ‘Lights Of Home.’ Beck opened for U2 during their 30th anniversary tour of their classic 1987 album The Joshua Tree last year but he’s turned to the band’s latest record, Songs Of Experience, to remix album track ‘Lights of Home’.
The remix features a riff from Haim’s 2014 single ‘My Song 5’ and also features Haim on backing vocals. It was originally released on Record Store Day, pressed to a 12-inch picture disc and featuring a photo of Bono’s son Eli and Edge’s daughter Sian. It’s limited to 5000 copies worldwide and also includes the album version of ‘Lights Of Home’ and an orchestral ‘St Peter’s String Version.’
Meanwhile, U2 start the UK leg of their ‘Experience + Innocence’ tour in October, and, as uDiscover Music recently reported they’ve just released an accompanying app. The ‘U2 Experience’ app will give fans an augmented reality experience, both at home and while at tour dates.
The app allows users to hold their phone up and point it at the 100 foot long LED wall that will form part of the band’s set, which will trigger a ‘specially curated audio visual experience emerging through your mobile device’.
