The Discotheque EP arrives 27 years after “Discotheque” first swaggered onto the dance floor as a hit single in January 1997. This digital single collection contains no less than ten mixes of the song, and a further two of B-side “Holy Joe.” The tracks range from the radio edit to the “Howie B, Hairy B Mix” to the “DM Deep Extended Club Mix” (at 10 minutes long) to the “Hexidecimal Mix” and the classic 12-inch. Other versions include the “Garage Mix” and the “Guilty Mix” of “Holy Joe.” The band has also shared a special “Discotheque” t-shirt available here.
Last we heard from the band was when they offered up a special performance and award presentation at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards from The Sphere in Las Vegas. It marked the first-ever broadcast performance from Sphere, a first-of-its kind venue that has ushered in a new era of live entertainment innovation and garnered worldwide headlines. U2, of course, were the band that had headlined the record-setting launch of the venue. They recently completed their residency, a stint that spanned more than 40 shows.
The news also arrives after the band’s latest track “Atomic City” took the top spot on Billboard’s Alternative Digital Song Sales Chart, marking their first No.1 and fifth Top 10 on that particular chart.
