The Weeknd’s ‘Heartless’ Hits No.1 On Billboard Hot 100
The Weeknd notched his fourth No.1 hit with his latest single ‘Heartless’, jumping from No.32 to the top spot in its second week on the chart.
The Weeknd notched his fourth No.1 hit with his latest single ‘Heartless’, jumping from No.32 to the top spot in its second week on the chart.
Following closely behind is his other recent single, ‘Blinding Lights’, which reached No.11 on the Billboard Hot 100, making him the only R&B artist to hit No.1 in his first full week on the charts in 2019.
It’s an impressive streak for the Grammy-winning artist who’s returned after an extended hiatus. The Toronto native and R&B star is gearing up for a big year, after announcing his next studio album is in the works. While no date or album title have been confirmed, this will be the Weeknd’s first full studio effort in four years, following 2016’s Starboy.
The chart-success of ‘Heartless’ and ‘Blinding Lights’ now brings the pop/R&B singer to a total of nine hit singles on top ten of Billboard’s Hot 100 list. ‘Heartless’ also now has the biggest one-week debut for an R&B song this year, reports Billboard.
More surprisingly, ‘Heartless’ is only the second No.1 song from super-producer and longtime Weeknd collaborator Metro Boomin (who also stars in the video), following Migos and Lil Uzi Vert’s ‘Bad And Boujee’.
The Weeknd recently took over the Las Vegas strip to film his trippy new music video for the single ‘Heartless’ and also performed the new track on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
Further expanding his creative resume, he recently joined Mercedes-Benz as the Creative Director for the EQC electric SUV Campaign, where he also stars in the commercial where his single ‘Blinding Lights’ made its debut.
Meanwhile, his big screen debut happens next week as he joins Adam Sandler in the critically-acclaimed Safdie Brothers film Uncut Gems in select theatres on 13 December and available nationwide on December 25th.
