The Weeknd And Swedish House Mafia Added As Coachella Headliners
A collaborative performance will close out both weekends of the festival.
The Weeknd and Swedish House Mafia are teaming up for a headlining performance at Coachella. The two musical acts will now close out both weekends (April 15-17, April 22-24) of the annual California music festival.
While Swedish House Mafia had been on the lineup prior to today’s announcement, their performance with The Weeknd (aka Abel Tesfaye) comes as a surprise to fans. The three-piece electronic act has collaborated with the Weekend on several occasions, including last year’s single, “Moth to a Flame.” Swedish House Mafia also appeared on two tracks on the artist’s latest album, Dawn FM. The Weeknd, meanwhile, has maintained a long history with Coachella, including a headlining slot in 2018.
“I’m so looking forward to this moment with Swedish House Mafia and The Weeknd finishing out the Sunday night slot this year,” stated Paul Tollett, president/CEO of Coachella promoter Goldenvoice. “Coachella has a special relationship with Abel and I’m so thankful to have this upcoming performance with these iconic artists all on the same stage.”
Alongside the new headliners, Harry Styles and Billie Eilish will close out the festival on Friday and Saturday nights, respectively. In addition, fans can look forward to sets from Megan Thee Stallion, Doja Cat, Daniel Caesar, Phoebe Bridgers, Big Sean, Lil Baby, Grupo Firme, Louis the Child, Baby Keem, Flume, Disclosure, 21 Savage, Danny Elfman, Stromae, Giveon, Anitta, Brockhampton, Joji, Jamie xx, Run the Jewels, Karol G, Maggie Rogers, Ari Lennox, Banda MS, and many more. While both weekends of the festival are currently sold out, fans can visit the Coachella website for waitlist details.
Following his appearance at Coachella, the best-selling Canadian artist will embark on a North American tour, in support of Dawn FM.
