The Weeknd And Kenny G Pair Up For ‘In Your Eyes’ Video
The duo also performed their smooth-jazz remix of the ‘After Hours’ track during Sunday’s AMA ceremony.
After delivering a fiery performance at the AMAs on Sunday, The Weeknd and Kenny G have returned with a new video for their smooth-jazz remix of “In Your Eyes.” The original edition of the song appears on the Canadian artist’s best-selling new album, After Hours.
The clever clip, which was directed by Micah Bickham, marks the second of three Vevo Official Live Performance videos filmed around After Hours. The series kicked off with “Alone Again” and will conclude tomorrow with “Faith.”
Written by The Weeknd with Max Martin, Ahmad Balshe, and Oscar Holter, the synth-poppy “In Your Eyes” originally featured Wojtek Goral on alto saxophone. The smooth-jazz remix swaps in Kenny G, who offers a luxuriously lengthy intro and a soaring, schmalzy outro.
In September, the duo performed “In Your Eyes” for TIME Magazine’s 100 event, where the best-selling singer was honored as one of TIME’s most influential people of 2020.
They reunited for Sunday’s AMA ceremony, where The Weeknd also performed “Save Your Tears” from a Los Angeles bridge, surrounded by a stream of fireworks. The R&B star took home three awards that evening, including Favorite Male Artist – Soul/R&B, Favorite Song – Soul/R&B (for “Heartless”), and Favorite Album – Soul/R&B for After Hours.
In other news, the NFL recently announced that The Weeknd (aka Abel Tesfaye) will headline the Pepsi Super Bowl LV Halftime Show at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2021.
“We all grow up watching the world’s biggest acts playing the Super Bowl, and one can only dream of being in that position,” said Tesfaye in an earlier statement. “I’m humbled, honored, and ecstatic to be the center of that infamous stage this year.”
The artist also recently collaborated with Ariana Grande on her song “Off the Table,” which appears on the pop star’s chart-topping new album, Positions. The duo previously duetted on Grande’s Top Ten 2014 single, “Love Me Harder.”
