First released in 1994, No Need To Argue confirmed The Cranberries as global stars, most notably via the international hit “Zombie.” The 30th anniversary edition of No Need To Argue includes a previously unreleased demo of Dolores O’Riordan singing what would eventually be an iconic track. The collection also includes two remixes—”Zombie” and “Ode To My Family”— from Iain Cook of CHVRCHES and a handful of live tracks performed at Woodstock ‘94. The third LP in the collection also includes The Cranberries’ 1994 MTV Unplugged set.

“Sometimes, it feels like it’s only been a few years ago and other times it feels like an eternity. There are lots of memories still fresh in our minds. It’s hard to believe it’s been 30 years since its release,” Fergal Lawler, The Cranberries drummer, says in a press release. The musician fondly recalled the process of creating No Need To Argue while they were touring their first album, Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We?, which included their first big hit “Linger.” “Dolores didn’t have any problems writing on the road and in fact was bursting with ideas,” Lawler recalled. “Often when a song was completed it’d go straight into the live set, so audiences got to hear a lot of the No Need To Argue songs way before they were recorded. I remember playing ‘Zombie’, for instance, early in 1993 on our first European tour with Hothouse Flowers. By the time the chorus came around for the second time, you could feel the reaction in the room. People just loved it from the get-go.”

And people still love it now, and thanks to the live recordings in the No Need To Argue 30th Anniversary Edition, we can imagine what it sounded like to hear these tracks for the first time all those years ago.
