Four Records From The Black Eyed Peas Are Headed To Vinyl
Four of the hip-hop group’s defining albums, ‘Behind the Front,’ ‘Elephunk,’ ‘Monkey Business,’ and ‘The E.N.D.,’ are getting reissued.
The Black Eyed Peas will be reissuing four of their records on vinyl. Behind the Front, Elephunk, Monkey Business, and The E.N.D., will arrive in February 2025. Also next year, the Black Eyed Peas will kick off a residency in Las Vegas, which will feature a new member inspired by Taylor Swift.
1998’s Behind the Front was the first record from The Black Eyed Peas, then composed of Will.i.am, Apple de Ap, and Taboo. The skit-heavy hip-hop album incorporates funk and jazz samples. 2003’s Elephunk was the group’s first album to feature vocalist Fergie, who replaced Kim Hill. The group incorporated pop into their sound which helped the record become a commercial breakthrough. It features the singles “Let’s Get It Started,” “Hey Mama,” “Shut Up,” and “Where Is the Love?, a collaboration with Justin Timberlake. Elephunk was nominated for Record of the Year at the 2004 Grammys while “Where Is the Love” was up for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration. The following year, “Let’s Get It Started” was nominated for Record of the Year and Best Rap Song. It won for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group.
2005’s Monkey Business followed in the footsteps of Elephunk, merging the group’s sound with pop and hip-hop. The Black Eyed Peas were a constant presence on the radio that year thanks to the huge singles “Pump It,” “Don’t Phunk With My Heart,” “My Style (Ft. Justin Timberlake and Timbaland)”, “Don’t Lie,” and “My Humps.” The tracks racked up nominations and wins at the Grammys, with “Don’t Phunk With My Heart” taking home Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group while “My Humps” won Best Pop Performance By a Duo or Group With Vocals the following year.
The Black Eyed Peas continued to churn out the hits on 2009’s The E.N.D, whose title stands for “The Energy Never Dies.” True to its title, the album includes anthemic electro-pop hits like “Boom Boom Pow” and “I Gotta Feeling.” The E.N.D was nominated for six Grammys, winning Best Pop Vocal Album, Best Short Form Music Video for “Boom Boom Pow,” and Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals for “I Gotta Feeling.”
