Teyana Taylor Reveals Pregnancy In ‘Wake Up Love’ Featuring Iman
The multi-hyphenate star’s newest single comes ahead of ‘The Album’, her highly-anticipated follow-up to ‘K.T.S.E.’.
Teyana Taylor just released a new video for ‘Wake Up Love’, in which she reveals some big news: she’s expecting baby number two with husband Iman Shumpert, who is also featured in the song. ‘Wake Up Love’ marks the newest single off Taylor’s forthcoming third full-length, The Album.
Directed by Taylor, and produced by her all-female production company, The Aunties, the sweet video for ‘Wake Up Love’ features Taylor and her NBA star husband in a heavenly-looking bed. Later, the multi-talented R&B artist and Shumpert are joined by their daughter, Iman “Junie” Tayla Shumpert Jr, who reveals Taylor’s pregnant stomach.
On Instagram yesterday, Taylor posted an outtake from her cover shoot for The Album, featuring Junie. Recently, Taylor shared that “I do all of this for my baby. She’s who I do it for. I always show her how to be a leader and a businesswoman. I want her to believe that she can be anything she wants to be and it not be a shocker that she’s a female doing it all.”
‘Wake Up Love’ follows a string of singles off The Album, including ‘How You Want It? (HYWI?)’ ft. King Combs, ‘Bare Wit Me’ and, most recently, Taylor’s tribute to graduates, ‘Made It’, which NPR called “A triumphant, isolation-proof anthem for the Class of 2020”.
Touted by Pitchfork as one of the “most anticipated albums of the summer,” The Album is slated for release later this month via GOOD Music. The Album follows Taylor’s widely-acclaimed 2018 LP, KTSE (Keep That Same Energy). KTSE was featured on a variety of “Best Of 2018” lists, including those by Billboard, Complex, Okayplayer, and Thrillist, who called it, “The work of a confident artist with a keen grasp on her own strengths”.
