Tedeschi Trucks Band Tear It Up At NPR
If you’re into quality blues-rock, you may well already be a fan of the Tedeschi Trucks Band’s excellent Let Me Get By, their third album and first for Fantasy Records, which came out at the end of January. Now here’s a chance to see the full 12-piece line-up in an outstanding new performance for NPR’s (National Public Radio) Tiny Desk concert series. Click here to watch.
The band, fronted by the husband and wife team of Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks, play three numbers in this informal setting, all of them from the current set: ‘Just As Strange,’ ‘Don’t Know What It Means’ and the extensive lead song ‘Anyhow.’ All of them come to life in this full band setting featuring horn section and backing vocals, as well as Tedeschi’s supple and soulful lead and Trucks’ nimble guitar brilliance.
Let Me Get By matched the performance of its predecessors by becoming the band’s third studio album in a row to make the top 15 of the Billboard 200. The Tedeschi Trucks Band started touring in support of the set even before its release, last December. After an extensive North American tour which concluded earlier this month with three shows at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, the band are currently on an international leg.
They’ve just completed shows in Australia and now move on to Japan, starting in Nagoya on 30 March, then return home for another huge set of dates, booked through to August. More details on the tour page of the TTB’s website here.
