Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood Among The Winners At 2018 AMAs
This year’s event featured jaw-dropping performance from Underwood, Swift, Cardi B, Panic! At The Disco and more.
Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood and Post Malone were among the big names scooping awards last night the 2018 AMAs. A star-studded event hosted by Diana Ross’ daughter Tracee Ross Ellis, this year’s extravaganza took place at The Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles and featured jaw-dropping performance from Taylor Swift, Cardi B, Carrie Underwood and more.
Taylor Swift returned to the American Music Awards stage for the first time since 2014, where she gave an awe-inspiring show-starting performance of ‘I Did Something Bad’ from her Reputation album. The pop superstar also broke the record for most AMAs won by a woman, adding four more awards – Tour Of The Year, Artist Of The Year, Best Pop/Rock Album for Reputation and Favorite Female Artist in the Pop/Rock genre – and bringing her total to a whopping 23.
Additionally, Panic! At the Disco played a tribute to Queen with a performance of the iconic ‘Bohemian Rhapsody.’ The group performed via satellite from Sydney, Australia. The performance was introduced by Rami Malek, Joseph Mazzello, and Gwilym Lee who are starring in the new Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody which opens in theaters on 2 November.
Gladys Knight performed all-star gospel medley to honor Aretha Franklin, who won six AMAs during her lifetime and hosted the awards show in 1976 and 1983. Other tribute performers included gospel iconic CeCe Winans, R&B/jazz diva Ledisi, veteran gospel duo Mary Mary, minister Donnie McClurkin, and musical director Rickey Minor
Amid high-energy 2018 AMAs performances, country superstar Carrie Underwood performed the ballad ‘Spinning Bottles’, from her much-acclaimed new album, Cry Pretty.
