Following her show-stopping performance at the BET Awards last night, R&B star Summer Walker announced she has a new EP on the way, with Life on Earth dropping on 10 July.
The album, executive-produced by Walker, is available to pre-order today. Along with sharing the release date, the R&B songstress also revealed the cover art, showing the silhouette of a triumphant Walker standing atop a car at sunset.
Walker’s star has been on the rise since releasing her critically acclaimed and record-breaking debut album Over It in 2019. Featuring the hit singles ‘Come Thru’ featuring Usher and Playing Games’, the album has since gone platinum.
Speaking of Usher, Walker reunited with the R&B icon during her intimate performance at the BET Awards to perform their hit ‘Come Thru’, along with ‘Session 32’.
The intimate set and performance which was directed and creative directed by Lacey Duke, was brought to life by an all-female production crew. Vulture described the two-song set “made you feel like having your heart broken is a visit to a tranquil, pastel oasis.”
With a guitar in hand, the singer performed a stripped-down set, with dreamy candy-coloured clouds behind her. The Atlanta-born R&B star was also up for Best Female R&B/Pop as well as Best New Artist at this year’s first-ever virtual awards, but lost to Roddy Ricch and Lizzo, respectively.
Walker successfully wrapped her First and Last Tour in support of Over It in late December. The six-week jaunt kicked off with a trio of sold-out dates in London, followed by a string of sold-out shows across the United States. The artist recently won her first Soul Train Music Award for Best New Artist.
The 23-year-old singer also turned heads earlier this year when she jumped on the remix for Justin Bieber’s ‘Yummy’ that appeared on his No.1 album Changes.
Life On Earth is due 10 July via LVRN/Interscope Records and can be pre-ordered here.
