The Struts Get ‘Pretty Vicious’ With Titular Song From New Album
The new track trails the album of the same name – the band’s Big Machine debut – due out November 5.
The Struts have shared the title song from their forthcoming album “Pretty Vicious.” You can watch the song’s official lyric video below.
The track opens with singer Luke Spiller crooning, “When you talk and everybody listens / and you walk and everybody whispers,” in a sultry tone.
“Those lyrics were very instinctual,” the vocalist said in a statement “They aren’t super clever, but they felt right. It’s more about the vocal delivery. That’s what makes it dark and sexy. It’s not overthought. It felt great from the moment we started to write it.”
“It was a completely instant track,” Spiller said of recording the new song.
An acoustic version of the song was released on the band’s live EP ‘Unplugged at EastWest,’ released earlier this year. The demo also went viral on TikTok after the band shared it online. “For me, it’s the best song on the album,” Spiller says. “It’s something we’ve never done before, and it has this undeniable mood to it. I still go back and listen to it purely for pleasure.”
Pretty Vicious, The Struts’ fourth studio album and first for Big Machine/John Varvatos Records will be released on November 3.
The US platinum-selling British rock band co-produced the set with Julian Raymond, whose credits include Fleetwood Mac and Cheap Trick, and it was executive produced by Big Machine Label Group CEO Scott Borchetta. “This record showcases each individual member’s strengths,” Luke Spiller said. “It’s some of my favorite music, hands down, we’ve ever conjured up. It’s the record everyone’s been waiting for.”
The extensive North American leg of The Struts’ current tour is due to begin on November 15 and the last date on the regular tour is on December 15 in Los Angeles. After that, the band are also booked for the Rock Boat 2024 cruise, which sails from Florida on January 30 next year.
