Sting Announces New Live Album ‘STING 3.0 LIVE’
The Record Store Day exclusive documents the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer’s current live show, the STING 3.0 TOUR.

With Sting’s STING 3.0 TOUR still going strong, the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer is preserving this era of his live show on a new album. STING 3.0 LIVE, out April 25 as a Record Store Day exclusive, includes tracks recorded live onstage during the tour, which features Sting back in the power trio mode he rode to fame as frontman of the Police.
STING 3.0 LIVE shows off the dynamic interaction between Sting, on lead vocals and bass as usual, and bandmates Dominic Miller (guitar) and Chris Maas (drums). Most versions of the album boast a nine-song tracklist including some of Sting’s greatest hits including “Message In A Bottle,” “Fields of Gold,” “Every Breath You Take,” and “Englishman in New York,” as well as the first ever official live recording of “Be Still My Beating Heart,” here combined with “Roxanne.” The 2-LP edition expands the album to 17 tracks, fitting even more fan favorites. Martin Kierszenbaum produced STING 3.0 LIVE, which was recorded by Howard Page with additional engineering by Tony Lake.
Sting launched the STING 3.0 TOUR last fall and has since added dozens more shows across North America and Europe. The latest batch of shows kicks off at the Zumna Tulum Festival in Mexico on May 17, followed by a three-night run at Red Rocks in Morrison, CO May 19, 20, and 22. He and his bandmates will stay on the road through June and July, then pick up with further performances in October and November.
“My whole modus is surprise,” Sting told the Los Angeles Times last year about his decision to return to the power trio format after years of performing with bigger ensembles. “I don’t want people to be entirely confident about what I’m going to do next. That’s the essence of music for me. And no one expected a trio at this point.”
