Steve Hackett To Perform Orchestral Genesis Revisited UK Tour
Steve Hackett has announced a UK Genesis Revisited tour for the autumn of 2018. The six shows will take place in October, with the guitarist joined on the road by a 41-piece orchestra, led by conductor Bradley Thachuk.
Hackett and Thachuk got together with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra for a one-off show in the US last year and have decided to bring the experience to a wider audience.
Hackett says of the project: “I always hoped that the Genesis music would one day involve an orchestra and I’m proud to say I’ll now be able to make that dream a reality on my next British tour – involving my own extraordinary rock band alongside a full-sized orchestra.”
As uDiscover previously reported, Hackett also set to bring his Genesis Revisited set to the Be Prog! My Friend festival at Poble Espanyol, Barcelona, on 29-30, with A Perfect Circle providing the weekend’s other headline act. They are due to play on the Friday night, while Hackett will close out the festival on the Saturday.
Joining Hackett on the tour are his regular musicians Roger King (keyboards), Gary O’Toole (drums/percussion), Rob Townsend (saxes/flutes) with Nad Sylvan on vocals. They will be joined on this tour by Jonas Reingold from The Flower Kings on bass.
The live dates will see Hackett perform some of Genesis’ best-loved songs, including ‘Supper’s Ready’, ‘Dancing With The Moonlit Knight’ and ‘Firth Of Fifth’, along with a selection of his solo tracks. Hackett was lead guitarist with Genesis as part of their classic early 1970s line-up with Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins, Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford, who produced several of the band’s most acclaimed albums including Selling England By The Pound and The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway.
