Slowthai, Nubya Garcia Confirmed For All Points East
The East London festival is slated to take place on August 27-30.
London’s All Points East festival has announced an initial line-up of artists for its 2021 edition, which is currently scheduled to take place in Victoria Park over the weekend of August 27-30. This morning, organizers revealed their Saturday headliners, including Jamie XX and Kano. Acclaimed jazz artist Nubya Garcia and rapper slowthai are also on the billing.
While last year’s events were canceled, amid the pandemic, festival organizers sounded optimistic on social media, captioning, “fingers crossed we will be reunited in Victoria Park very soon.” Tickets go on sale tomorrow, March 10, at 10:00 am GMT, via the festival’s website.
In addition to the artists noted above, fans can also look forward to performances by the critically-acclaimed singer-songwriter Arlo Parks and rapper Little Simz, as well as Tom Misch, Pa Salieu, Romy, HAAi, and many others.
Slowthai will likely be one of the most anticipated acts on the billing this year, thanks to his recent album, TYRON. In February, the rapper’s sophomore album was an instant best-seller, debuting at the top of the UK charts.
The album – which features such singles as “NHS,” “Vex,” “Cancelled” featuring Skepta, “Feel Away” featuring James Blake, and “Mazza” with A$AP Rocky – also received wide acclaim from the critics. Giving the album five out of five stars, the NME called TYRON, “a deeply moving, melancholic – but never self-pitying – record about shame, defiance, childhood, adulthood, mistakes and, ultimately, forgiving yourself.” Consequence of Sound praised the album as “a hard step forward for slowthai – a step that many rappers never make…TYRON recognizes that the greatest moves toward progress must include personal expression, examination, and growth.”
TYRON followed slowthai’s 2019 debut, Nothing Great About Britain.
Following the rapper’s appearance at All Points East, he’ll head out on a short UK run, beginning at the Garage in Glasgow on August 31. The tour wraps up at London’s The Underworld on September 9.
TYRON is out now and can be bought here.
