Slatt Zy Drops New Song And Video, ‘Hard To Live’
Somber piano chords and scorching guitar mingle with bluesy bass as he then unfurls his one-of-a-kind delivery.
Tennessee newcomer Slatt Zy returns with the intense, deeply personal “Hard to Live.” The breakout rapper also unveils a gripping music video, which finds him brushing off cop cars and navigating hallways as claustrophobic as the streets he raps about.
“Hard to Live” builds on the momentum of Zy’s 2021 hit, “Beautiful Scars.” Somber piano chords and scorching guitar mingle with bluesy bass as he then unfurls his one-of-a-kind delivery, effortlessly blending charismatic vocals and brilliant wordplay. Slatt Zy raps: “I tried to stop it’s like I can’t so I keep popping these pills/ I lost so many to the streets so I don’t know how to feel/ It’s kind of hard to live.”
“Hard to Live” is yet another groundbreaking moment for Zy, who turned heads throughout 2021. “Lean On” has amassed nearly 1.5 million views on YouTube, while “Don’t You Fold” is closing in on the million mark. Both tracks showcase the artist’s versatility as he details his biggest struggles and celebrates his unlikeliest triumphs, continuing the diaristic approach that began in 2020 when Zy released Zy Story and East Lake Projects.
“Hard to Live” is yet another example of the autobiographical, unfiltered material that’s garnered Zy critical acclaim from Lyrical Lemonade, EARMILK, HotNewHipHop, and more. FLAUNT has raved about the upstart, saying, “Slatt Zy embodies the definition of Southern swag, finding his niche in heartfelt anthems for the streets, spitting about real-life experiences and struggles. On ‘Drama,’ he croons, ‘I remember them cold nights in East Lake, say thеy showing real love but the s__t it bе fake. Growing up eating noodles, I ain’t never had steak / Now a b___tch wanna eat, tryna eat off my plate.’”
Song by song, Slatt Zy is building a world that’s difficult to face, but even harder to look away from. With a new project due to arrive in 2022, the breakout star is only just getting started.
