Skynyrd Go Back To Where They Came In
American classic rockers Lynyrd Skynyrd will recreate their first two albums in two special hometown shows in Jacksonville, Florida in February. The band will perform 1973’s ‘Pronounced Leh-nerd- Skin-nerd’ on February 12, then 1974’s ‘Second Helping’ on the 13th, at the Florida Theatre. The band are planning to film the shows for a TV special and home DVD release.
The band will also perform other songs from their famed career during both shows. Tickets for both shows go on general on Monday (22) at 10 am ET, priced at $49.50, $69.50 and $99.50.
Johnny Van Zant, singer with the modern-day Skynyrd line-up, told the Florida-Times-Union. “We’ve been wanting to go back and recreate these live records for a long time. We decided to come back to our hometown, Jacksonville, and play at the legendary Florida Theatre. Can’t wait to rock it.”
‘Pronounced Leh-nerd- Skin-nerd’ was the album that included such Skynyrd theme songs as ‘Free Bird’ and ‘Simple Man.’ It reached No. 27 on the Billboard 200, and stayed on the chart for no fewer than 79 weeks. ‘Second Helping,’ which featured ‘Sweet Home Alabama,’ climbed to No. 12, in a 45-week run. Both albums are certified double platinum in the US.
Skynyrd will also be on a stellar bill at the new, three-day Big Barrel Country Music Festival, which for June 26-28, 2015, at the Woodlands of Dover International Speedway in Dover, Delaware. Husband and wife country superstars Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert will play the festival, as will Carrie Underwood, Kacey Musgraves, Jake Owen, Chris Young and two all-time country greats, Loretta Lynn and Merle Haggard.
