Selena Gomez and DJ Snake Team Up For New Single ‘Selfish Love’

Selena Gomez and DJ Snake have teamed up for the singer’s latest single “Selfish Love,” along with a surreal visual. The track comes from Gomez’ upcoming Spanish-language EP REVELACIÓN out March 12 via Interscope Records.
“Selfish Love” is a bouncy dance track that jumps between English on the pre-chorus and Spanish throughout the rest of its duration.
“I know we got trust / But you be gettin’ me thinking / Does somebody else care / Somebody else care,” she sings. “Tú quieres darme celos / All this time and we still got that selfish love / You like making me jealous (I like makin’ you jealous) / Es un juego que queda entre tú y yo / Tú y yo, tú y yo.” After the chorus, DJ Snake pulls in a soft building beat of hitting percussions and saxophones.
“With the whole world being separated from each other I kept looking and working only on pure good vibes. I wanted to make music for the world and mix all my favorite influences of afrobeat, Latin music, something that felt grounded and organic,” said DJ Snake in a press statement.
“Selena and I had been talking and after ‘Taki Taki’ we had to give the world another round with fresh summer vibes. Something that made it feel like summer the first time you heard it. ‘Selfish Love’ came very naturally for us and I think it’s the perfect evolution for our history together.”
Gomez and DJ Snake previously joined forces on the 2018 single “Taki Taki” with Ozuna and Cardi B. The song has been amassed over 1.1 billion streams on Spotify and its video has surpassed 2 billion views.
“Selfish Love” is the third single to be released from REVELACIÓN, following “De Una Vez” and the Rauw Alejandro-assisted “Baila Conmigo.” The 7-track project also features a collaboration with Mike Towers on “Dámelo To’” and songs “Buscando Amor,” “Vicio,” “Adiós.”
REVELACIÓN is Gomez’ first full Spanish effort, although she says she has wanted to record a project in the language for much of her career and has expressed pride in her Latin background.
In a recent behind-the-scenes video series with Vevo, Gomez unveiled that “De Una Vez” was one of the first songs to be recorded on the project which was recorded entirely over Zoom due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
“At the time, doing a Spanish project was just an idea being bounced around,” she said. “Then the rest of the project just kind of happened really quickly and organically.”
