Sam Smith’s 2014 breakthrough single “Stay With Me” has been certified diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America in recognition of over 10 million U.S. sales.
The track comes from Smith’s 5X platinum debut album In The Lonely Hour which boasts the platinum-certified songs “I’m Not The Only One,” “Lay Me Down,” and “Leave Your Lover.”
“Stay With Me” was an international hit, debuting at No.1 in the U.K. and peaking at No. 2 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and spending 54 weeks on the chart. To date, the track’s music video has amassed over one billion views on YouTube.
At the 2015 Grammy Awards, Smith snagged both Record of the Year and Song of the Year for “Stay With Me” as well as a trophy for Best New Artist and Best Pop Vocal Album for the critically acclaimed In The Lonely Hour.
In addition to this diamond certification, their chart-topping sophomore album The Thrill of it All (2017) has been certified platinum along with the single “Too Good At Goodbyes” and a gold certification for “One Last Song.”

“The sound of “Love Goes” is sweeping and luxurious: intimacy blown up to cinematic scale. Each song feels elaborately hewed,” The New York Times said of the album.
Earlier this month, Smith performed an amazing version of their current single ‘Diamonds’ at the 2020 MTV EMA’s. They also gave an intimate performance of “Stay With Me” at the iconic Abbey Road Studios for a world exclusive livestreamed pay-per-view performance, where they sang tracks old and new.
