Sam Smith, Normani And Panic! At the Disco To Perform At 2019 Billboard Music Awards

Sam Smith will make his Billboard Music Awards debut to perform his collaborative hit single ‘Dancing With A Stranger’ with Normani.

Kelly Clarkson, Sam Smith, Normani and Panic! at the Disco are among the first performers for the 2019 Billboard Music Awards.

NBC and Dick Clark productions announced the first round of performers today that will also include R&B star Khalid along with singer-songwriter Lauren Daigle.

Clarkson will resume her hosting duties for the second year in a row and perform her new single during the awards, while Sam Smith will make his Billboard Music Awards debut to perform his collaborative hit single ‘Dancing With A Stranger’ with Normani.

Since dropping back in January, the collab single has already gone platinum in Australia, Ireland, Brazil, Canada and Switzerland.

“I had so much fun hosting the Billboard Music Awards last year that I’m back for more,” Clarkson shared in a statement. “We’re turning it up a notch this year and I can’t wait to celebrate all of my fellow amazing artists for another unforgettable night of live music.”

Also making their BBMA debut is four-time nominee Panic! at the Disco, along with Daigle, a three-time nominee this year. After performing his duet ‘Love Lives’ with Normani last year, Khalid will return to perform new material off his recently dropped his sophomore album, Free Spirit.

Since releasing their sixth studio album Pray For The Wicked this year, mid-noughties scenesters Panic! at the Disco have experienced a career renaissance and their single ‘High Hopes’ reaching No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The BBMA nominations were announced last week with Dan + Shay, Cardi B, Ariana Grande, Drake and Post Malone leading the pack. After a breakout year, Cardi B tops the list with 21 nominations this year.

The 2019 Billboard Music Awards will air live on NBC from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Wednesday, May 1, at 8 pm ET/PT.
