Sam Fender Among Special Guests For Rolling Stones’ Hyde Park Shows
Other acts on the two bills include The War On Drugs, Phoebe Bridgers, and Courtney Barnett.
Sam Fender has been announced as one of the guest artists at the Rolling Stones’ upcoming American Express presents BST Hyde Park shows. They take place on June 25 and July 3 as part of the storied band’s SIXTY tour.
At the June 25 date, the bill will feature Philadelphia rock force The War On Drugs; the Grammy-nominated, Los Angeles-based Phoebe Bridgers; Manchester multi-instrumentalist JJ Rosa; and Nashville-based country artist Kelly McGrath.
On July 3, BRIT Award-winning chart-topper Fender takes his place on a bill that also features ARIA-winning Australian export Courtney Barnett and blues guitarist-singer Christone “Kingfish” Ingram. Also on the Hyde Park stage that day will be supergroup Dinner Party, comprising Terrace Martin, Kamasi Washington, Robert Glasper, and 9th Wonder, as well as another Australian act, three-piece Sydney alternative rockers the Flints.
As previously announced, the special guests for their show at Anfield Stadium, home of Liverpool FC, on June 9 will be modern rock linchpins and local heroes Echo & The Bunnymen.
The Stones are now preparing for the first show on the SIXTY tour at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid next Wednesday (June 1). The tour marks the 60th anniversary of the band’s first gig, at London’s Marquee Club, on July 12, 1962, and the show will feature a brand new stage set and production. Fans can expect countless classics from their catalog as well as surprise inclusions, and as on the North American dates when they resumed the No Filter tour last fall, Steve Jordan will again take the drum seat after the death last August of Charlie Watts.
With the Live At The El Mocambo album now on release in multiple formats, June 10 will mark the release of Licked Live in NYC, another multi-format live set filmed at New York’s Madison Square Garden during the Stones’ 40th anniversary Licks tour in 2003.
