Remi Wolf Returns With Two New Singles, ‘Toro’ And ‘Alone In Miami’
‘Big Ideas’ is set to arrive on July 12 via Island Records.
Remi Wolf has shared two new singles and videos, entitled “Toro” and “Alone in Miami.” “Toro,” an unrestrained dance anthem, and “Alone in Miami,” a heart-string-pulling alt-rock meditation, follow the recent announcement of her sophomore album Big Ideas, out July 12 on Island Records.
The singles follow Remi’s first release of the year, “Cinderella,” an audacious entry into the pop sphere that earned her a debut performance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
Meant to be listened to back-to-back, both new singles highlight the upcoming album’s boundless sonic identity, each carrying contrasting emotions while still sounding like signature Remi. Her soulful vocals playfully weave between the song’s psychedelic guitar melody and disco-influenced bassline on “Toro” to deliver a playfully seductive, yet sincere and tender, lively pop anthem.
Remi’s refined songwriting on “Alone In Miami” details an intimate and chaotic trip to Miami where she embraces her vulnerability to address the lonesome feelings that haunt her while longing for genuine love. Remi strays away from her usual whimsical demeanor with raw and heavy-hearted lyrics to compliment the hopeless romantic ballad’s grungy guitar chords and abrasive drum breakdown. Check out both cuts below.
“I wrote ‘Toro’ and ‘Alone in Miami’ in the same week of sessions and in my mind they have always been intended to be listened to back to back. I wrote both songs with my friends Ethan Gruska and Jack Demeo in LA in between tours in early 2022.
“To be frank, ‘Toro’ is a song about having sex in a hotel, and ‘Alone in Miami’ is a song about the week I spent alone in Miami during Art Basel—and is quite literally a detailed and accurate description of what happened while I was there. These two songs showcase the sonic breadth of this album—and you can’t put me into a box b___h so don’t even try,” says Remi.
Big Ideas propels Remi to new heights as her honed sense of self and musicianship is on full display, presenting her big ideas as a magnum opus of guitar-smashing, hair-raising, soul-bearing, lung-filling, and life-altering bangers.
