Sam Smith, Gwen Stefani And More To Perform For ‘Red Nose Day Special’
The telecast will feature performances by Sam Smith, Gwen Stefani, James Taylor, OneRepublic, Ellie Goulding and more.
NBC’s sixth annual ‘Red Nose Day Special’ returns this year with an even more impressive musical line-up on Thursday, 21 May at 9:00 pm on NBC.
The national fundraising campaign to end child poverty takes on a different form this year amid the coronavirus pandemic but has enlisted a stellar line-up of artists, actors and comedians.
The two-hour telecast will feature musical performances by Sam Smith, Gwen Stefani, Blake Shelton, James Taylor, OneRepublic, Ellie Goulding, Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers, Meghan Trainor and Adrienne Warren, star of the Tina Turner Musical.
They will be joined by actors/comedians Jim Gaffigan, Tony Hale (Veep), Ray Romano and Lilly Singh, Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad), Mario Lopez, Milo Ventimiglia (This Is Us) and Noah Jupe, who will make appearances throughout the evening.
The night will also include inspiring short films that show how donations to Red Nose Day are used to aid children in the US and in underserved communities around the world.
“For five years, Red Nose Day has tapped into the power of laughter, engagement and entertainment to bring Americans together to change the stories of millions of children in need,” said Alison Moore, CEO of Comic Relief US, the non-profit organization behind Red Nose Day.
While supporters won’t be able to buy Red Noses in Walgreens store, they can still participate with digital versions of the signature Red Noses.
Supporters can go to NosesOn.com to donate and unlock their own digital Red Nose, and share their #NosesOn selfies on Facebook, Snapchat and Instagram to show their support and encourage others to donate.
They can also organise virtual fundraising events with friends or community members and tune in to donate and watch the star-studded night of programming.
Red Nose Day was created by Love Actually and Yesterday writer-director Richard Curtis and has raised over $200 million since launching in the US in 2015 and has helped more than 25 million children in the US and around the world.
