Rare Beatles Memorabilia Heads To Auction
The celebrations for The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band 50th anniversary continue, with auction house Paddle8 hosting an online auction of prized Beatles memorabilia all this week.
Other rare items include a show poster from a Pop Festival in Sweden from 1963, where the Fab Four were dubbed “England’s Pop Gäng” and shared the billing with Joey Dee & the Starliters, famous for creating the Twist craze with a starting bid of $25,000.
Or an original Andy Warhol screenprint based on photographs taken of The Beatles by Dezo Hoffman in 1963 for a cool $95,000.
While there are plenty of high-ticket items for serious collectors, the lot spans all price points, like a set of four psychedelic posters by Richard Avedon from 1968 for a starting bid of $750.
Even for those who aren’t looking to invest, the site is a visual feast of Beatles ephemera from old Yellow Submarine figurines to old tour posters that are likely to inspire a trip down memory lane.
