Queen Announce Details Of Freddie Mercury 71st Birthday Party; Forthcoming ‘News Of The World’ Documentary
Queen have announced details of this year’s special Freddie Mercury Birthday Party event. Freddie would have been 71 this year and the band’s official website, QueenOnline.com is now inviting fans to his Official 71st Birthday Party which is being held at Casino Barriere, Montreux, Switzerland on Saturday, 2 September 2017. The casino is also the home of the much-admired Queen Studio Experience.
Tickets for the event are available in a strictly limited capacity and cost £75/€99/107 or £95/€122/$132 for the ticket and T-shirt bundle, in addition to a voluntary donation to the Mercury Phoenix Trust. The ticket includes entry, food, a welcome drink and entertainment during the evening. This year’s theme/dress code is stipulated as “red and yellow”. For more information and to order tickets and T-shirts, visit QueenOnline.com.
As at previous Official Freddie birthday parties, Queen are also premiering a new unseen Queen film at this year’s event. In 2015, the newly-restored A Night At The Odeon made its debut and last year Queen + Adam Lambert’s Live In Japan concert was exclusively screened for birthday party attendees. At the 2017 party, Queen will be bringing fans the brand new documentary that is to be released as part of the News Of The World 40th Anniversary box set which has been scheduled for release in November this year.
This unique documentary follows Queen’s progress on their 1977 US tour and includes previously unreleased footage, in addition to interviews, recording sessions and audio. Not only will attendees at Freddie Mercury’s 71st Birthday Party be the first to see the documentary, but there is the added bonus of a one-off talk and a special Q&A session with the film’s producer Simon Lupton, who will be talking in detail about his work on the documentary on the night.
