Pre-CMA Award Good News For Thomas Rhett
Just ahead of country music’s biggest night of the year, tonight’s (4 November) 49th Annual CMA Awards, New Artist of the Year nominee Thomas Rhett already has some good news to celebrate.
The singer and songwriter, signed to Valory Music, had a double platinum smash hit in 2013 with ‘It Goes Like This’ and has had two further platinum singles from his two albums to date. Rhett reached No. 2 on the Billboard country album charts with both It Goes Like This and the recently-released follow-up Tangled Up, and also stopped in runner-up spot on Hot Country Songs no fewer than three times, with that breakthrough hit as well as ‘Make Me Wanna’ and ‘Crash and Burn.’
Now, finally, he’s celebrating his first No. 1 on Hot Country Songs with his latest Valory Music single from Tangled Up, ‘Die A Happy Man.’ Billboard’s Chart Beat column reports that the track is also in its fourth week atop Country Digital Songs, with weekly downloads of 62,000.
“I am blown away by the reaction to this song,” says Rhett. “It’s a very personal, very special song for my wife and me. Seeing fans connect with it so quickly and already singing it at our shows is just unreal.”
The 25-year old from Valdosta, Georgia is nominated for the New Artist accolade at the CMAs alongside Kelsea Ballerini, Sam Hunt, Maddie & Tae and Chris Stapleton. We’ll know tonight whether it has turned into even more of a good news week for Thomas Rhett.
