Pearl Jam Unveil Animated Video For New Single ‘Superblood Wolfmoon’

Today, Pearl Jam revealed their official music video for their latest single, ‘Superblood Wolfmoon’, featuring the band in animated form.
Teaming up with DIY animator Keith Ross, the artist behind the popular Tiny Concert Instagram channel, the band is transformed into frantic line-drawings that capture the arresting energy of the song.
Ross gained a homegrown following on his channel @TinyConcert with his animations of excerpts of songs. The ‘Superblood Wolfmoon’ marks the first time that he’s delivered a video that runs the entire duration of a track.
The black-and-white visual intercuts a stunning vision of the moon with hand-drawn clips of the band performing. The animated counterparts capture each respective member’s spirit.
“I am beyond excited to share the official Pearl Jam Tiny Concert featuring ‘Superblood Wolfmoon’ from their new album Gigaton,” wrote Ross on Instagram.
“Thank you Matt Cameron, Mike McCready, Eddie Vedder, Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament for the opportunity – and this song.”
Ross, who writes copy at a NYC-based advertising firm by day, shared the origins of the Tiny Concert account with Alt Press back in 2018.
“I was probably just doodling at work when I should’ve been paying attention at a meeting or something like that. I was thinking about the types of things I liked to draw as a kid – concerts and motorcycles.”
“Then I thought it would be cooler to try to recreate it with a little light animation to bring it to life. I just sat down and thought, ‘I’m going to give this a shot. Don’t be precious about it: Draw the way you would’ve drawn it when you were 13 years old.’”
‘Superblood Wolfmoon’ is the latest single to be released from the group’s highly anticipated new album, Gigaton, arriving 27 March via Monkeywrench Records/Republic Records and follows the band’s previously shared single, ‘Dance Of The Clairvoyants’.
Produced by Josh Evans and Pearl Jam, Gigaton marks the band’s first studio album since Grammy award-winning, Lightning Bolt, which was released on 15 October 2013.
Gigaton can be pre-ordered here.
