Pat Benatar To Reissue First Three Albums On Vinyl
‘In The Heat Of The Night,’ ‘Crimes Of Passion,’ and ‘Precious Time’ spotlight Benatar’s early partnership with Neil Giraldo.
The first three albums by Pat Benatar, created in tandem with her musical partner and spouse Neil Giraldo, will be reissued on vinyl on September 13. In The Heat Of The Night, Crimes Of Passion, and Precious Time have all been remastered and are available in special limited edition fruit punch color variants in addition to the standard black.
In The Heat Of The Night, Benatar’s Platinum debut album from 1979, features the breakthrough hit and anthem “Heartbreaker” as well as “I Need A Lover” and the Giraldo-penned “We Live For Love.” Alongside the black vinyl version, the limited edition reissue is on tangerine color vinyl.
1980’s Grammy-winning sophomore full-length Crimes Of Passion features the Top 10 classic “Hit Me With Your Best Shot,” “You Better Run,” and “Treat Me Right.” The black vinyl release is complemented by a limited edition opaque magenta version.
Rounding out the reissue series is 1981’s Precious Time, a #1 smash album featuring the Grammy-winning “Fire & Ice” plus “Promises In The Dark.” The black vinyl standard edition is joined by a limited edition purple run.
The return of these albums to vinyl continues a flurry of activity from Benatar and Giraldo. In 2022, they were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, which proclaimed, “Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo are among the most formidable power couples in rock history. Together, they created a sound that deeply impacted the sonic landscape of the 1980s.”
The duo’s summers have been largely occupied by touring, including headlining shows, some dates supporting P!nk’s “Summer Carnival” Stadium Tour, and the 2023 Love Rocks NYC benefit. 2023 also saw the premiere of Invincible – The Musical, a jukebox musical that combined new songs and selections from Benatar and Giraldo’s legendary catalogue into a fresh reimagining of William Shakespeare’s Romeo And Juliet. The play had its world premiere at The Wallis in Los Angeles.
