Texan Country Notable Parker McCollum Releases ‘Hollywood Gold’ EP
McCollum, whose career streams in the US recently passed 350 million, has been compared by Rolling Stone to John Mayer and Jason Isbell.
Conroe, Texas-born singer-songwriter Parker McCollum has today (16) released his Hollywood Gold EP on MCA Nashville. It includes the current, gold-certified country hit “Pretty Heart,” by an artist who’s won favorable comparison from American Songwriter with “rule breakers like Chris Stapleton and Kacey Musgraves.”
McCollum co-wrote five of the six songs on the EP, including the current hit. Hollywood Gold was produced by singer, writer, and musician Jon Randall. In another upbeat press notice, Rolling Stone wrote: “Parker is a no-holds-barred, confessional singer-songwriter who excels at relatable tales.” The magazine has also compared the rising star with John Mayer and Jason Isbell. McCollum’s total career streams in the US recently passed 350 million.
The 28-year-old musician has been named an artist to watch by CMT, Rolling Stone, SiriusXM, MusicRow and Sounds Like Nashville, and as a SiriusXM Highway Finds Artist. He started to build his audience with the independently-released 2013 EP A Red Town View and the 2015 album The Limestone Kid.
From that set, “Meet You in The Middle” became a hit on Texas’ regional radio chart, after which his first national chart recognition came with his 2017 EP releases, Probably Wrong: Session One and Session Two, both of which reached Billboard’s Heatseekers chart. “Pretty Heart” currently stands at No.11 on both Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay. It’s also at No.18 on Billboard’s Country Streaming Songs and No.17 on Country Digital Song Sales. The EP’s “Like A Cowboy” is steady at No.4 on the Texas Regional Radio Report for the week of October 11, its 25th on that state-wide airplay survey.
