The landmark nu-metal anthem hit the milestone figure on Saturday, October 14, a feat so far achieved than less than 500 songs on Spotify. As a token of recognition, Spotify awards the artist with a special “Billions Club” commemorative plaque.

Celebrating the achievement, Papa Roach frontman Jacoby Shaddix shared a video message on the band’s official Facebook page, saying “Guess what! This son here just hit a billion plays on Spotify! Thank you to the fans for al the continued support after all these years!”

Thanks to “Last Resort,” Papa Roach now stands shoulder to shoulder with the likes of other Billions Club classics such as Metallica’s “Nothing Else Matters” and Survivor’s “Eye Of The Tiger.”

Propelled by the success of “Last Resort,” – which also remains in heavy rotation on rock radio to this day – Papa Roach’s second album (and major label debut  for Astralwerks/Geffen) 2000’s Infest peaked inside North America’s Billboard 200 album chart’s Top 5. Amid the album’s widespread critical acclaim and multi-Platinum success, the band garnered two Grammy Award nominations, for Best New Artist and Best Music Video (Short Form) for another of the album’s key singles, “Broken Home,” in addition to an MTV Video Music Award nomination for Best New Artist.

Following the success of Infest, Papa Roach performed an extensive worldwide tour, including headline shows in the US and Europe and the main stage for 2001’s Ozzfest tour across North America and the UK.

Produced and mixed by Jay Baumgardner, Infest features Papa Roach’s Jacoby Shaddix on lead vocals, Jerry Horton on guitars and backing vocals, Tobin Esperance on bass and former member Dave Buckner on drums. The album’s guest artists include DJ A.M, Aimee Echo and Rodney Duke.
