“My official country road cover of ‘Born This Way’ for the 10th-anniversary edition of Born This Way Reimagined is out now! I am so honored and excited to be a part of the iconic legacy of this song and album,” Peck shared on Instagram. “Thank you Lady Gaga for asking me and Happy Pride y’all!”

The singer’s reimagined rendition of “Born This Way” trades in the song’s original upbeat pop production for stripped-back guitars, heavy bass, and Peck’s deep vocals. Through the sonic differences, the overarching message of the song, which in the years since its release has become something of an anthem within the LGBTQIA+ community, remains at its core.

All six featured artists on Born This Way The Tenth Anniversary Edition tasked with reimagining iconic Gaga singles are LGBTQIA+ artists and advocates.

The first of the six covers to be released was an undertaking of “Judas” by Bounce musician Big Freedia who put a New Orleans spin on the Born This Way cut. Though the other featured musicians have yet to be announced, it has been revealed that the remaining selected songs include “Marry The Night,” “Highway Unicorn (Road To Love),” “Yoü and I” and “The Edge of Glory.”

“Born This Way, my song and album, were inspired by Carl Bean, a gay black religious activist who preached, sung, and wrote about being ‘Born This Way.’ Notably, his early work was in 1975, 11 years before I was born,” Gaga explained in a speech from West Hollywood. “Thank you for decades of relentless love, bravery, and a reason to sing. So we can all feel joy, because we deserve joy. Because we deserve the right to inspire tolerance, acceptance, and freedom for all.”

Born This Way The Tenth Anniversary Edition announcement comes alongside the release of a new collection of merchandise available for pre-order from the official Lady Gaga website.
