Could You Be An Opening Act For Pop Innovators Sparks?
The search is on for artists to support Ron and Russell Mael on their European tour.
Pop innovators Sparks have announced their search for bands, artists and entertainers to support them at the concerts on their upcoming Hippopotamus tour.
The itinerary is due to commence on 22 May in Glasgow, with dates running until 18 June. The duo of Ron and Russell Mael invite interested artists to upload a live performance video to YouTube, and then email the link to sparks@republicmedia.net. Further details are available at allsparks.com, and the successful artists will be notified by 10 May.
The tour is named after Sparks’ current, 23rd studio album, which came out in September 2017, hitting the UK chart at No. 7 to become their fiirst top ten entry there since Propaganda in 1974, and highest since Kimono My House earlier that year. The album received five-star reviews in several national newspapers and was included in many critics’ year-end “best of 2017” lists.
Sparks had six top ten singles in the UK between 1974 and 1979, from their debut hit ‘This Town Ain’t Big Enough For Both Of Us’ to ‘Beat The Clock,’ and have continued to expand their audience across the generations with their innovative and knowing pop sensibility. Their song ‘You’ve Earned The Right To Be A Dick’ will be available as a seven-inch picture disc for Record Store Day this Saturday (21 April).
