Olivia Dean Shares New EP ‘Ladies Room’
The EP includes a live version of the track recorded at her sold out headlining show at London’s Somerset House.
Olivia Dean has shard a new single “Ladies Room,” lifted from her Mercury Prize Album of the Year shortlisted debut album Messy.
Like much of Messy, fan favorite “Ladies Room” was inspired by Dean’s real life experience and is a tribute to the warming community and support often found between strangers in the women’s bathroom. The song was written after a surreal encounter in the women’s bathroom at her local pub, where a stranger was oversharing about her relationship with a boyfriend 20 years older than her.
“Ladies Room” arrives via Island Records as part of a four track EP, which also includes a live version of the track recorded at her sold out headlining show at London’s Somerset House earlier this year, and a live recording of her much-loved cover of Kelis and Andre 3000’s “Millionaire.” Watch the video for “Millionaire (Live From KOKO)” above.
Olivia will be bringing her electric live shows to audiences in the US for her headlining Messy tour. Tickets for all dates are now sold out, with her biggest headlining show to date at London’s Eventim Apollo selling out in under a week.
Olivia shared, “I can’t wait to fill these rooms with love and warmth and dancing feet. It’s gonna be very special and I can’t wait to sing with you all.”
Alongside playing Glastonbury (with headliner Elton John singing her praises: “I think she’s a big star…she’s a fabulous singer, she’s beautiful, she’s got that personality that really shines through”), and her first US headlining shows, Olivia has fulfilled two more of her childhood dreams this year: playing on Jools Holland and being nominated for the Mercury Prize.
