Norah Jones Is Captured ‘Live At Ronnie Scott’s’
New DVD and Blu-ray release showcases her performance at the famous jazz venue.
Modern jazz icon and nine-time Grammy-winner Norah Jones will have the DVD and Blu-ray release Live At Ronnie Scott’s out on 15 June via Eagle Rock Entertainment. It features her performance at the celebrated London venue with drummer Brian Blade and bassist Christopher Thomas, and is available for pre-order now.
The stripped-back show displays Jones on sparking form as she returns to the jazz roots displayed on her most recent, sixth studio album Day Breaks, released late in 2016. The record was widely acclaimed and became a top ten hit around the world, entering the Billboard 200 at No. 2 and prompting Rolling Stone to describe it as a “marvellous consolidation, floating buoyantly between past tradition and her own unique present.”
The performance begins with ‘Sleeping Wild,’ from that album, and also features other tracks from the record such as ‘Don’t Be Denied’ and ‘It’s A Wonderful Time For Love.’ You can catch the flavour of the concert with this performance of the Day Breaks song ‘And Then There Was You,’ which is simultaneously released today (11 May) via streaming services and as a digital download.
The set also features Jones’ elegant version of Duke Ellington’s ‘Fleurette Africaine (African Flower)’ and closes with ‘Don’t Know Why’ and ‘I’ve Got To See You Again’ from her spectacularly successful debut album Come Away With Me. That 2002 release is now estimated to have worldwide sales of some 27 million.
Bonus features on the Blu-ray and DVD include a pre-show interview, filmed at Ronnie Scott’s, and the bonus track ‘Burn.’
