Barbie fans, rejoice! Nicki Minaj’s wildly anticipated new LP, Pink Friday 2, is out now via Young Money and Republic Records.
With features from J. Cole, Drake, Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Wayne, and more, plus production from FINNEAS, Boi-1da, and ATL Jacob, the album is one of the most exciting events of the year.
Pink Friday 2 was worth the wait. With 22 tracks clocking in at over 70 minutes, Nicki has offered up plenty of hits for her fans to obsess over. Opener “Are You Gone Already” features production from FINNEAS, while the album’s first feature comes on the J. Cole-assisted “Let Me Calm Down.”
Following “Let Me Calm Down” is “RNB,” which features Nicki’s Young Money mentor, Lil Wayne, alongside Tate Kobang. On “Needle,” which features Drake and features a sample of a voicemail from SZA, Nicki raps, “Shading like silhouettes, spinning like pirouettes/It gave nothing, b___h, thank you for zero, next/Damn, Drizzy, another bitter ex, shout out my intellects.” Check out that track above.
Elsewhere, “Cowgirl” features Lourdiz, while “Everybody” includes a contribution from Lil Uzi Vert. “Forward From Trini,” Nicki’s ode to her home country of Trinidad and Tobago, features Jamaican artists Skillibeng and Skeng. On that cut, Nicki spits, “You get me, man, you get me/Wh-where Trinidad, Jamaica pop s__t/Guyana, Barbados inna yuh top s__t/Bahamas, Saint Thomas, Turks and Caicos/Belize, Saint Kitts, Haiti and Lagos.”
Nicki invites Future to hop aboard the aptly titled “Nicki Hendrix,” and “Blessings” features Tasha Cobbs Leonard. The album also includes a number of pre-release singles, including “Last Time I Saw You,” which finds her moving her sound from hard-hitting hip-hop to polished, emotional pop. “I wish I’da hugged you tighter the last time that I saw you,” she sings in the chorus. Minaj also released massive singles “Super Freaky Girl” and “Red Ruby Da Sleeze” in the lead up to the album, both of which are featured on Pink Friday 2.
