Nia Archives Announces ‘Silence Is Loud,’ Shares Title Track
The album will arrive on April 12 via HIJINXX/Island Records.
Nia Archives has announced that her debut album Silence Is Loud will arrive on Friday, April 12 via HIJINXX/Island Records.
Shortly following her eagerly anticipated return with “Crowded Roomz” last month that examined the lonely side to life on tour, Archives has marked this new announcement with the release of the title track “Silence Is Loud.”
On the album, Nia will explore themes of loneliness and the intense potential power of silence, alongside relationships, family, navigating her 20s, and more.
Building on the terrain from her third EP, Sunrise Bang Ur Head Against Tha Wall, the universe of Silence Is Loud promises expansive but not always unfamiliar territory. Working with Ethan P. Flynn (the songwriter and producer known for his work with FKA twigs and David Byrne), Nia is intent that Silence Is Loud is taken in as a full body of work of something “more song-focused, putting interesting sounds on jungle.”
Fresh off an eight-date Australia and New Zealand Tour Nia shared summer bangers like “Off Wiv Ya Headz” and “Bad Gyalz.” Regarding the latter, Archives said: “I was on ma way to the studio with Clipz listening to Ranking Ann who is one of my fave MCs—period. And then I was just thinking about tha fact that like whenever I go to one of my shows, it’s like 85% women age 18 -25 which is so amazing! And they are all baddies, absolute junglists. So I wanted to make a song that represents that and tha women that come to ma raves. And that’s how ‘Bad Gyalz’ was born!”
Also in 2023, Nia starred in a JD Sports Christmas ad alongside Central Cee and Kano, graced the December cover of DJ Mag, sold out a 10,000 ticket “UP YA ARCHIVES” takeover at Warehouse Project, and remixed Fred Again’s “leavemealone.” Suffice it to say, Nia Archives is set up for an exciting 2024.
