My Morning Jacket Share ‘Love Love Love’ From Forthcoming Self-Titled Album
‘‘Love Love Love’ is trying to steer the ship away from everything I’m talking about in ‘Regularly Scheduled Programming,’’ says James.
My Morning Jacket have shared the first single from their self-titled ninth studio album. “Love Love Love” is available now, accompanied by a mesmerizing official music video directed by George Mays with animation by Mero. My Morning Jacket arrives via ATO Records at all DSPs and in various physical formats on Friday, October 22.
“‘Love Love Love’ is trying to steer the ship away from everything I’m talking about in ‘Regularly Scheduled Programming,’ and speak toward positivity and pure love, finding truth within yourself and in the world around you,” says My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James.
My Morning Jacket was first teased by the album’s first song, “Regularly Scheduled Programming,” available now at all DSPs and streaming services; an official music video – co-directed by James and George Mays – is streaming now at YouTube.
The band’s first new music since 2015’s GRAMMY Award-nominated The Waterfall, My Morning Jacket reaffirms the rarefied magic that’s made the band so beloved, embedding every groove with moments of discovery and revelation.
Produced and engineered by James over two multi-week sessions at Los Angeles, CA’s 64 Sound, the album came to life after what looked like a permanent hiatus for the band. But after performing four shows in summer 2019 – beginning with two nights at Red Rocks Amphitheatre – My Morning Jacket was overcome with the urge to carry on. That sense of purpose can be heard throughout the expansive My Morning Jacket.
For all its unbridled joy, songs like “Regularly Scheduled Programming” and the album-closing “I Never Could Get Enough” once again reveal My Morning Jacket’s hunger for exploring the most nuanced and layered existential questions while honoring their world-famous live shows with extended jams and an overarching free spirit.
My Morning Jacket will be available on CD as well as two vinyl configurations: 2xLP Clear Vinyl featuring a gatefold jacket with artwork by Robert Beatty, custom inner-sleeves with lyrics, and digital download; and 2xLP 180-Gram Deluxe Colored Vinyl featuring cloudy blue and cloudy orange colored vinyl, deluxe foil gatefold jacket with artwork by Robert Beatty, 24” x 24” circular fold-out poster, custom inner-sleeves with lyrics, and digital download.
