Muni Long Releases Awaited Follow Up EP ‘Public Displays of Affection Too’
The project arrives with two previously unreleased tracks, ‘Crack’ and ‘Cartier.’
Muni Long has released her fifth EP Public Displays of Affection Too, an expansion on her latest release Public Displays of Affection, which spawned hits with “Hrs & Hrs” and “Time Machine.” The 5-track EP arrives via Def Jam Recordings featuring two previously unreleased tracks: “Crack” and “Cartier.”
Public Displays of Affection Too was led by three range-displaying singles including “Another” and “Pain” before Muni Long teamed up with rap powerhouse Saweetie for “Baby Boo” which interpolates the 1996 Ghost Town DJs single “My Boo.”
Muni Long, who previously performed and wrote songs as Priscilla Renea, made her return under the new stage name in 2020, looking for a fresh start. Since then, she has continued to pen dozens of songs for her projects with a debut album on the way.
“I write so quickly. The quality of the work is so high that I can go into a studio and in a week come out with like 50, 60 songs,” Muni Long explained to Revolt earlier this year. “When I get on a roll, it’s kind of like, ‘Okay, cool, pull the next beat up. I hear something.’ If I hear something, I’m like ‘Alright, cut me on. Let’s go.’”
Of her relentless work ethic, she added: “I’ll go until it starts feeling like work… feeling like I’m trying to rhyme too hard or it’s not coming quickly. I just move on. I just keep doing that and I might come back to the [track] a year later and finish it. But, most of the time when it’s the right beat or the right chord progression or the right instrument playing the right chord progression, it just comes out quickly.”
Speaking with ELLE, the singer and songwriter explained the distinction between herself as Muni Long and herself as Priscilla Renea, saying: “Priscilla is the name I was born with. I always wanted to be Muni Long though. She’s fearless. She has intent. She is me.”
