Motown Mania Set For UK…Again
July 7 sees the UK release of the 40-track, double CD compilation ‘The Nation’s Favourite Motown Songs.’ It’s being released to coincide with a new ITV show featuring the stories behind some of the legendary label’s most iconic tracks. The show features a countdown of a public vote to reveal the all-time favourite Motown hit among British fans.
The show will feature new interviews with Mary Wilson of the Supremes, Tito Jackson of the Jackson 5, Martha Reeves and the last original members of the Four Tops and the Temptations, Duke Fakir and Otis Williams respectively. Those artists will feature on the album alongside other Tamla heroes such as Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Lionel Richie and Smokey Robinson.
The whole of the first disc on the compilation is given over to the 20 tracks featured in the TV show. The programme follows last year’s similar countdown of the UK’s favourite Elvis Presley songs.
