The release date for Motley Crüe‘s highly-anticipated biopic The Dirt has been confirmed as March 2018.

The legendary group’s frontman Vince Neil shared news of when fans could expect to see The Dirt on Twitter. “Wow!!! Just left Netflix offices,” he wrote. “Just saw The Dirt movie!! F_in’ awesome!! Can’t wait for everyone to see it! Released March 22!! Yea!!!” Netflix representatives have confirmed the release date.

The forthcoming film, which is based on the no-holds-barred 2001 autobiography of the same name, has been in the works since 2006. Filming eventually began earlier this year, with the band serving as producers on the project.

In the movie, Neil will be played by actor Daniel Webber, while rapper Machine Gun Kelly plays Tommy Lee, Douglas Booth plays Nikki Sixx, and Game Of Thrones‘ Iwan Rheon will portray Mick Mars.

Earlier this year, it was announced Motley Crüe had recorded four new songs for the film’s soundtrack after Lee and Sixx were photographed in the studio together.

“F_k can I just say it?” Sixx wrote about the new songs on Twitter. “I’m listening to the roughs of the new @MotleyCrue and it feels real and raw. Everybody is playing like mad and the songs crush. Bob Rock brought the sounds. Plus we have a surprise that will confirm that we’re outta our minds.”

After a fan questioned how new songs fit in to a movie about the band’s past, he replied: “You can trust us these are ball busters. Everybody can relax. Were soon gonna smack you upside the head with some killer new tracks. Bob Rock is producing. It’s our movie. We know what we’re doing.”

Motley Crüe quit touring in 2015 and signed an agreement saying they would never tour again. They last released new music in 2008 with the album Saints Of Los Angeles and, while they haven’t said they won’t release any more new music, have been inactive on that front since.
