Country Sensation Mickey Guyton Announces ‘Remember Her Name’ Album
The record will arrive in the wake of Guyton’s ‘Bridges’ EP, which included the Grammy-nominated ‘Black Like Me.’
Mickey Guyton, whose emergence on the country scene and beyond has been warmly endorsed by media far and wide, will release her album Remember Her Name on Capitol Nashville on September 24.
The record features 16 tracks, of which Guyton has co-written all but one. It will arrive in the wake of her Bridges EP, which included the Grammy-nominated “Black Like Me.” That in turn prompted her appearance with the song as the first Black female artist to perform on the 63rd Grammy Awards in March, described by NPR as “the night’s most affecting live performance.”
“Remember Her Name is a culmination of the last ten years of my life in Nashville,” says Guyton. “This album is the closing of a chapter. All those years ago, I set out to create music that would make people feel self-empowered, loved, and comfortable with being themselves and this album holds true to all of that. I hope everyone who listens finds something that connects and speaks to them.”
In April, Guyton’s epic year saw her co-hosting the 56th Academy of Country Music Awards in April with labelmate Keith Urban. “Black Like Me” was listed among the top five songs of 2020, across all genres, by both NPR and the Associated Press.
Other prestigious coverage has included her recent appearance on the cover of Billboard, a profile feature in the New Yorker, and earlier coverage ranging from BBC News to CBS This Morning and from the Los Angeles Times and New York Times to Rolling Stone, Variety, Vogue, and the Washington Post.
