Maroon 5 Share Valentine’s Gift: ‘Girls Like You’ Lyric Video
Featuring Cardi B, the single version of the track topped the US charts and spent 33 weeks in the Top 10.
Arriving in the nick of time to help celebrate Valentine’s Day with the one you love, Maroon 5 have shared a new lyric video for ‘Girls Like You’, which you can watch below.
Already acclaimed as one of the LA’s bands classiest ballads, ‘Girls Like You’ – features frontman Adam Levine crooning about a woman he loves. The song delves into spending late nights, weekends and days with a special significant other.
Fast-rising US rapper Cardi B also appears on the single version of the song. In an interview with Variety, Levine stated he told Cardi before she wrote her verse, “I want you to put something down that shows your fierceness as a woman and say it however you want.”
The band previously released an official music video for the track, which sprinkled in a bevy of powerful female artists, actresses and advocates, from Jennifer Lopez and Ellen DeGeneres to gymnast Aly Raisman wearing an “Always Speak Your Truth” T-shirt. Levine sings his own truth of needing a girl who loves fun and brings out his wife and daughter at the end of the video for a touching family tribute.
The original version of ‘Girls Like You’ appeared on Maroon 5’s Red Pill Blues, but the single version of the track – released in May 2018 and featuring Cardi B – rewarded Adam Levine and company with their fourth US No. 1. The song spent 33 weeks in the top 10, tying Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” for the longest top 10 run in the chart’s archives. Additionally, it reached number one in eleven other countries, including Canada and New Zealand. The song was nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards.
‘Girls Like You’ also topped YouTube’s 2018 Songs of the Summer list globally, and ranked third in the United States. As of February 2019, the video has received more than 1.8 billion views, making it the 36th most viewed video on the site at the time of writing.
