The 2019 Billboard Music Awards just got a little more star-studded with the Madonna and the Jonas Brothers confirmed as performers.
Madonna’s latest collaboration with Latin superstar Maluma, ‘Medellín’, will be making its worldwide television premiere at this year’s awards.
This year’s awards mark the pop icon’s first award show performance with new material in four years. Madonna last performed at the awards in 2016 during a tribute to Prince, while Maluma will be making his Billboard Music Awards debut.
“Madame X is rehearsing for something special,” Madonna tweeted on Friday, referencing the name of her upcoming album. Her highly-anticipated 14th studio album is set for release this summer on 14 June.
Prior to the ceremony, Madge will unveil the official music video for ‘Medellín’ on 24 April during a live, globally televised event.
Speaking of comebacks, the Jonas Brothers continue their triumphant return to the spotlight to perform their smash hit ‘Sucker’, marking their first televised award show performance in 10 years.
The former boy band is also booked as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live on 11 May, hosted by actress Emma Thompson and have gone on record saying they are “definitely” planning on going on tour this year, but are keeping things vague for now.
Madonna and The Jonas Brothers will be joined by a group of previously announced performers that includes Kelly Clarkson, who will also be hosting, Lauren Daigle, Khalid, Panic! at the Disco and Sam Smith and Normani, who will perform their new single ‘Dancing With A Stranger’.
In other collaborations, K-pop superstars BTS will perform their record-breaking single, ‘Boy With Luv’, alongside alt.pop sensation Halsey.
The show will also feature a special performance from 2019 ICON Award recipient Mariah Carey.
The 2019 Billboard Music Awards will air live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 1 at 8 pm ET/PT on NBC.
