Maddie & Tae Announce First Holiday Release, ‘We Need Christmas’

Maddie & Tae have announced their first festive release in the form of the six-track EP We Need Christmas, which will be available on October 23.

Produced by Jimmy Robbins and Derek Wells, the release will feature two original songs, “Merry Married Christmas” and title track “We Need Christmas.” They’re accompanied by the chart-topping, platinum-selling country duo’s versions of some much-loved holiday favorites.

They sing Donny Hathaway’s “This Christmas,” the Johnny Marks composition “Holly Jolly Christmas,” the beloved carol “O Come All Ye Faithful” and Phil Spector, Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich’s “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home),” first recorded by Darlene Love.

“A bright spot for us”

“We are so proud of this project and loved recreating some of our favorite Christmas classics as well as write some of our own,” say Maddie Font and Taylor Kerr. “Making We Need Christmas was such a bright spot for us this year and we hope this project brings a little joy and peace to our fans during this difficult year.”

Christmas comes early

There were early Christmas gifts for Maddie & Tae at the recent photo shoot for the upcoming release. They unwrapped what they assumed were props for the shoot, only to discover that they were personalized plaques celebrating trade body the RIAA’S official platinum certification for “Die From A Broken Heart.” The song recently reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart and currently holds at No.5 in its 58th week.

The duo’s album The Way It Feels also continues its chart presence, standing at No.20 in its 21st week on Top Country Albums. During the week, the artists paid a visit to a Seacrest Studio, the multimedia centers installed in children’s hospitals by the Ryan Seacrest Foundation.
