Machine Gun Kelly, Willow, And Travis Barker Star In Video For MGK’s ‘Emo Girl’
Directed by Drew Kirsh, the video features Travis Barker serving as a guide to a group of young students on a field trip.
Machine Gun Kelly (Bad Boy/Interscope Records) and WILLOW have teamed up to star in the video for “emo girl,” the new single from MGK’s forthcoming album, mainstream sellout.
Directed by Drew Kirsh, the video features Travis Barker serving as a guide to a group of young students on a field trip. Inside the museum, the kids are left awestruck by the electric energy of MGK and WILLOW, who perform inside a checkered room. At the video’s end, they morph into young emo rockers themselves.
Last weekend, MGK previewed his rock-tinged single alongside WILLOW on TikTok. The 15-second snippet quickly sparked conversation as the clip reeled in over 19 million total views and was the 3rd fastest growing TikTok in 24 hours from his account. His sixth studio album mainstream sellout will arrive March 25. The album is available for pre-order now.
This past Saturday, MGK headlined the 2022 NHL All-Star Game in Las Vegas and delivered a scintillating halftime performance for hockey and rock enthusiasts. Leading up to this year’s Super Bowl week, MGK will team up with Halsey for a Bud Light sponsored show at the Crypto.com Arena this Thursday.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Barker revealed that WILLOW had initially been approached for the collaboration, which was originally titled “Emo Prom,” with a pre-written verse. Wanting to maintain the artistic stride she hit on her own pop punk record Lately, I Feel Everything, the singer re-wrote the verse to fit her own vision.
In other news, Machine Gun Kelly teased another snippet of new material and also retired his now-legendary pink Tickets To My Downfall guitar.
MGK performed Tickets To My Downfall track “drunk face” on social media, in a clip during which he also showed off his brand-new silver mirrored guitar and previewed an unreleased track. “new album, new snippet, new guitar,” reads MGK’s caption.
